New England Patriots second-year tight end Aaron Hernandez has suffered from an MCL sprain, and according to reports, could miss as long as 4-6 weeks. Hernandez has 165 receiving yards and two touchdowns through two games in 2011.

Aaron Hernandez Sprains MCL In Patriots Win, Could Miss 4-6 Weeks

New England Patriots second-year tight end Aaron Hernandez has suffered from an MCL sprain, and according to reports, could miss as long as 4-6 weeks. Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe first reported the injury on Monday afternoon.

Aaron Hernandez has a sprained MCL and will be out 1-2 weeks, according to a league source. The second-year tight end left yesterday's game against the Chargers in the second half and was seen in the locker room after the game with a pronounced limp. (via Extra Points)

While Young reported the possibility of missing 1-2 weeks, but CSNNE's Tom E. Curran reports on Twitter that the timetable for Hernandez's return could be much longer.

Hernandez left Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers - a 35-21 win for the Patriots - in the second half and limped into the locker room. Hernandez had seven catches for 62 yards and a touchdown in the win.

In 16 career games with the Patriots, Hernandez has 728 receiving yards and eight touchdown catches. This season, Hernandez has 13 catches for 165 yards and two touchdowns through two games.
