NFL Draft 2011: Bill Belichick On Ryan Mallett: 'Definitely A Football Guy'

Stay connected for news and updates

It's no secret that Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett, who the New England Patriots drafted with the tenth pick in the third round (No. 74 overall) in the 2011 NFL Draft on Friday night, has some character issues.

Nevertheless, that didn't stop Patriots head coach Bill Belichick from taking the Razorbacks' gunslinger, and it didn't stop him from praising him, either.

"He's definitely a football guy. He's a great kid to talk to. He's very into football. You can't wear him out - as long as you want to talk about it, he'll be there. However many hours it is, he's ready to go watch the next film or go talk about a new technique or read or whatever."

That tireless work ethic should serve both the Patriots and Mallett well over the next few years. Mallett threw for 8,388 yards and tossed 69 touchdowns in his three year career at Arkansas.
