The New England Patriots defeated the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field on Sunday, 34-27. The Patriots needed the passing game to be working as the ground game was not at its best. New England tight end Aaron Hernandez was part of a receiving corps which gashed the Redskins for 16.2 yards per catch and three touchdowns.
Hernandez finished with 5 receptions (out of 7 targets) and 84 yards (16.8 average). Only Rob Gronkowski and Wes Welker were targeted more often by quarterback Tom Brady. Hernandez had a catch of 29 yards in the third quarter as his long reception for the day. That grab was his second of two on a scoring drive which ended up being the game-winning drive for New England.
