Brandon Spikes Injury: Tests Reveal Strained MCL In Right Knee

New England Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes reportedly has a strained MCL in a right knee after suffering the injury on a third-down play in the second half of the Patriots' 24-20 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday afternoon at Gillette Stadium.

New England Patriots' linebacker Brandon Spikes reportedly has a strained MCL in his right knee, according to a Tweet from WBZ Sports' Dan Roche on Monday night. Spikes had test done on Monday to determine the injury.

Spikes suffered the injury on a third-down play in the second half of the Patriots' 24-20 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday afternoon at Gillette Stadium after running into teammate Kyle Arrington. He left the game immediately after, and according to Adam Schefter had an MRI on Monday revealing a medial collateral ligament strain.

"We'll see how he responds," Belichick said Monday. "It's hard to tell right after the game -- a lot of adrenaline going and all that. (We'll) take a look at it (Monday) and see what it looks like (Tuesday). Sometimes those things clear up and they're bruises; sometimes they're more than that and it takes a little bit longer. Probably a little better idea tomorrow and we'll see whether he can practice on Wednesday." (via WEEI)
