Jerod Mayo suffered a left knee injury during the second quarter of the New England Patriots victory over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday afternoon, and it was later reported that he had an MCL injury and could miss up to six weeks.

Tom E. Curran of CSNNE.com first reported that Mayo had an MCL injury on Twitter, also saying that it would most likely not be season ending. Ian R. Rapoport later reported on Twitter that a source said Mayo could miss six weeks.

"We'll look at it tomorrow and see where he's at going into this week," Bill Belichick told WEEI.com.

Mayo, who is in his four year with the Patriots, had 427 career tackles and 3.5 sacks and in 48 games entering Sunday's contest with the Raiders. This season, Mayo has 24 tackles and is the anchor of the Pats defense.
