New England Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo was one of three players not spotted during the media portion of today's practice, according to an ESPN Boston report.
Defensive lineman Mike Wright (concussion) and Josh Barrett (safety) also reportedly missed the media portion of the practice. Running back Danny Woodhead and wide receiver Julian Edelman both returned after missing the Jets game.
The 6-1, 245-pound Mayo sprained his MCL during a week four win against the Oakland Raiders, leading him to miss last week's win against the Jets. Early reports said Mayo would miss 4-6 weeks, marking his probable return either week nine against the Giants or week 10 against the Jets.
Mayo accumulated 24 tackles in New England's first four games, also forcing a fumble. He was named as a reserve to the 2011 Pro Bowl Team and was a member of the NFL's 2010 First-Team All-Pro Team.
