Junior Seau Arrested For Alleged Assault Of His Live-In Girlfriend, Per Statement By Police

Junior Seau was arrested for the "alleged assault of his ... live-in girlfriend," this according to the official release put out by the Oceanside Police Department. The 25-year old victim suffered "minor injuries." 

In the case surrounding Junior Seau, the Oceanside Police Department has issued the following statement (per SPORTSbyBROOKS): 

Junior Seau was arrested for the alleged assault of his ... live-in girlfriend. The victim reportedly sustained minor injuries that did not require medical treatment. On October 17, 2010 at 10:13 p.m. police were dispatched to the Seau residence on South Strand in Oceanside to investigate the report of a domestic violence assault.

The 25-year-old victim reported that Junior Seau assaulted her during a verbal argument. Seau was not at the residence when police arrived.

Seau called the victim while police were on scene and spoke to the officers; he agreed to return to the home. Shortly after midnight Seau drove back to the scene and he was arrested without incident as he approached the residence.

Junior Seau Reportedly Fell Asleep At The Wheel

Junior Seau reportedly told police that he was not trying to kill himself when he drove his car off a beach-side cliff early Monday morning in California, just hours after being arrested and released for domestic violence. Seau claims that he fell asleep while driving, per TMZ.

We're told Seau showed no outward signs of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs ... but a blood test was taken shortly after the incident and results are expected back some time in the next 6 weeks.

Junior Seau Reportedly Arrested For Felony Spousal Assault; Escapes Car Accident With 'Cuts And Bruises'

Junior Seau, who drove his Escalade off a beach-side cliff early Monday morning, was reportedly arrested for a felony spousal assault with injury, this according to San Diego's 10News.com, who cites Oceanside police. 

10News goes on to say that the victim was Seau's live-in girlfriend. 

Seau was released around 3:30 A.M., and then roughly five hours later, drove his car off a cliff, suffering "only cuts and bruises." His SUV was discovered approximately 30-feet below the roadway. 

Former Patriot Junior Seau Reportedly Arrested, Drives Off Cliff

Junior Seau, retired NFL linebacker, was reportedly arrested early Monday morning in San Diego on "suspicion of domestic violence," according to TMZ.  

Per the TMZ report, Seau was arrested and booked into the Vista Detention Facility "around 2:00 A.M.," and then released shortly thereafter, at 3:20 A.M. 

Then things got kinda strange. 

Again, from a TMZ report, just hours after his release, Seau drove his SUV off a cliff in Carlsbad, California, suffered "injuries" and was taken to the hospital. 

Seau spent 17 seasons in the NFL, including four with the Patriots.
