NCAA Hockey Tournament 2012: Miami vs. UMass-Lowell Final Score: River Hawks Win 4-3 In Overtime

The Miami Redhawks made things interesting on Friday night in their matchup against the UMass-Lowell River Hawks, even though it was the River Hawks that will advance to the next round to face the top-seeded Union Dutchmen in the next round. After heading into the third period with a 3-0 lead, the River Hawks allowed Miami to score three goals in the third period, forcing overtime, where UMass-Lowell won by scoring first.

The third period was all Miami. At the 3:06 mark in the third,Trent Vogelhuber score the Redhawks' first goal of the game. Then, less than a minute later,Austin Czarnik scored Miami's second goal. At the 9:56 mark, Alden Hirschfeld scored the Redhawks' third, and final goal, tying the game. Neither team was able to score in the second half of the third period and the two colleges went to overtime.

Even though Miami had all the momentum, it was UMass-Lowell that came away with the win by scoring first in overtime. After just 2:13 had passed in overtime, Riley Wetmore, who scored the team's goal in the second period, sent the puck into the net to end the game and allow the team to advance to the next round to face the Dutchmen.

That game will take place on Saturday, March 24 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
