A Tyler Olander free throw with six minutes and 28 seconds remaining in the second half brought the Huskies to within two points of the second-ranked Syracuse Orange. The score was 63-61 and the Huskies were in great position to pull off the upset, while adding an impressive win to their Tournament resume. Following that free throw, however; Syracuse's Scoop Jardine hit consecutive three pointers and the Orange went on a 22-6 run to end the game, dropping the Huskies by a final of 85-76.
Each team had four players score in double figures. Jardine scored a game-high 21 on only nine shots. He added six assists, two rebounds and only turned the ball over once.
The Huskies next game is scheduled for February 15 when they host the DePaul Blue Demons.

Coming off a blowout loss to conference rival, the Louisville Cardinals, by a final score of 80-59, the 15-8 Connecticut Huskies are in desperate need of a statement victory before Selection Sunday. Today they're presented with a great opportunity to do just that against the second-ranked team in the country, the Syracuse Orange, who are 24-1 on the season and 11-1 in the Big East. The game will be played at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York, where the Orange have not lost a game all season.
The Huskies will need a much better performance from stud freshman, Andre Drummond, who was held scoreless on six attempts in the team's loss to Louisville. Last time out was also only the second time all season Drummond was held without a blocked shot.
Game Date/Time: Saturday, February 11, 1 p.m. ET
Location: Carrier Dome, Syracuse, NY
TV: CBS
Radio: WTKW 99.5 FM

A lair of uncertainty surrounds the Connecticut Huskies men's basketball program like a bubble, but the college basketball schedule -- like time -- stops for no one. The Huskies visit No. 2 Syracuse on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. (CBS) looking to right the ship.
UConn coach Jim Calhoun is in the midst of a medical leave of absence. His team has lost five out of six contests. The Huskies are appealing an NCAA verdict to keep them out of the 2013 NCAA Tournament, and in the meantime, they might be playing their way out of this year's March Madness despite a stacked roster featuring two likely lottery picks. They fell at Louisville on Monday, 80-69, and those two aforementioned lottery picks -- Andre Drummond and Jeremy Lamb -- combined for seven points, all by Lamb.
Syracuse has won four straight since its lone loss of the season on Jan. 21. The Orange held on for a 64-61 overtime victory against rival Georgetown behind Kris Joseph's career-high 29 points.
