UConn Huskies freshman point guard Ryan Boatright has been cleared to play after the second NCAA investigation regarding his eligibility.
According to Patrick Eaton-Robb, a news/sports reporter for the associated press, the University of Connecticut has announced that freshman guard, Ryan Boatright, has been cleared to play following his second NCAA investigation this season.
#UConn has announced that Ryan Boatright has been cleared to play after second NCAA investigation.
Boatright will make his NCAA debut against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Sunday night at the XL Center. He was held out of the first six games of the season because he of compensation he received from an AAU coach prior to coming to UConn, and was held out the Huskies' previous three games because the NCAA received further information regarding Boatright's compensation prior to his time at Connecticut.
The freshman is averaging 10 points, 3.5 assists and 3 rebounds on the season.

Connecticut Huskies freshman point guard Ryan Boatright will sit out of competition while the UConn and the NCAA review his eligibility, according to a release from the school. The concern is not related to academics.
The 5-foot-10 point guard from Chicago will continue to practice with the team, but will not play when the Huskies suit up for an exhibition against AIC on Nov. 4, UConn's first contest since winning the 2011 National Championship. Boatright will be held out of competition until the matter is resolved.
The Huskies are counting on the Boatright -- ranked by ESPN.com as the 74th best recruit in the 2011 class -- to spell Shabazz Napier as a reserve point guard this season. UConn's success will depend a great deal on replacing the point guard production it lost from the departed Kemba Walker, who was selected in the first round of the 2011 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Bobcats.

Ryan Boatright's Family Attorney Upset With NCAA, Releases E-Mail
The family attorney representing Connecticut Huskies freshman guard Ryan Boatright's mother, Tanesha, is upset at the NCAA. On Sunday, just a few days after the univeristy announced that Boatright would be reinstated for Sunday's game against Notre Dame (noon on SNY) after another NCAA investigation into possible improper benefits, attorney Scott Tompsett released an e-mail to the media.
Tompsett continued, saying that the NCAA release about Boatright's investigation has misleading information and that he is considering legal options.
Boatright missed UConn's first six games of the season because of compensation he received from an AAU coach prior to coming to UConn, and was held out the Huskies' previous three games because the NCAA received further information regarding Boatright's compensation prior to his time at Connecticut.
