Bobby Jenks Released By Boston Red Sox

Bobby Jenks has been released by the Boston Red Sox. Jenks, who did not appear in a game this season, pitched in 19 games last season for the Red Sox, posting a 2-2 record with a 6.32 ERA, 17 strikeouts and 13 walks in 15.2 innings.

Bobby Jenks has been released by the Boston Red Sox, according to a press release from the team. Jenks and the team reach a contract termination settlement that placed Jenks on unconditional release waivers.

Jenks' career in Boston was all bust disappointing. Jenks appeared in 19 games last season after signing a two-year deal with the team and has not pitched in a game this season. In the 2011 campaign, Jenks had a record of 2-2 with a 6.32 ERA, 17 strikeouts and 13 walks. Jenks had a WHIP of 2.23 and allowed an average of 12.6 hits per nine innings.

Prior to joining the Sox, Jenks spent the first six seasons of his career with the Chicago White Sox. In 329 games with the White Sox, Jenks posted a 14-18 record with a 3.40 ERA, 334 strikeouts and 173 saves.
