David Ortiz Injury Update: Ortiz Removes Walking Boot, Takes BP, But Return Date Unknown

Stay connected for news and updates

David Ortiz is moving around without his walking boot, according to a report from MLB.com. The Red Sox slugger is recovering from a right Achilles strain and has missed 10 games since going on the 15 day DL. Ortiz took batting practice at Yankee Stadium on Friday, but is unsure when he'll be ready to play again:

"I don't know. Every day is different," Ortiz said. "Every day for me it has been improving. We'll see. If I'm ready to go, I'm ready to go. I want to play."

The Red Sox would surely like to see him return to play sooner rather than later. The team has only three wins and has been outscored 74-26 in the 10 games Ortiz has missed.
