Did you think something was up in the Boston Red Sox clubhouse? Buster Olney of ESPN wrote that it was a "toxic" environment, and the story took off from there. It became this big story, and it seemed like the end of the world as we knew it was in store (or something like that). Sadly, you'd be mistaken if you believe in it. At least, that's what Red Sox players have been saying, particularly everybody's hero Josh Beckett and catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia.

Beckett said that Olney's report was "completely fabricated," while Saltalamacchia was a bit more confused about the matter, but denied the reports.

"I don't know where that's coming from, as far as the clubhouse is concerned," Saltalamacchia said. "The guys have been as positive as we can be, pulling for each other ... I don't really see it, I don't understand it. I've been in a bunch of different clubhouses with a bunch of different managers and a bunch of different players and there is no different feeling than it was anywhere else." (via WEEI)

Honestly, did you really expect them to say anything else? Of course the players wouldn't admit if there was chaos in the clubhouse. That's just bad business, especially when we aren't even at the halfway point of the season. Players would wait to speak on clubhouse chemistry issues after the season, if at all. Maybe what Beckett and Salty are saying is true. Or, maybe not. Who knows?
