The Pittsburgh Pirates are the latest team said to have interest in Kevin Youkilis.
Boston's early season struggles, as well as Youkilis', in conjunction with Will Middlebrooks' arrival has prompted speculation that Cherington could move Youkilis around the trade deadline. The Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, Arizona Diamondbacks and Cleveland Indians had all been rumored to be interested in Youkilis as well.
Headed into Sunday's action, the Pirates trail the Cincinnati Reds by one game in the NL Central. The defending World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals are also well in the hunt, just two games behind the Reds.
It's certainly unknown who the Pirates would be willing to surrender for Youkilis, but Pittsburgh does have an improving farm system. If Cherington does decide to move Youkilis, the Pirates could likely offer an interesting package of prospects.
