Carl Beane, the iconic Boston Red Sox public address announcer died at the age of 59 on Wednesday afternoon in a one-car crash in Sturbridge, MA. Beane suffered a heart attack that is believed to have caused the crash, according to an official press release from the team.
The Boston Red Sox today lost a member of their family, Public Address Announcer Carl Beane, who died after suffering a heart attack while driving his car in Sturbridge, MA. Beane, 59, had been the "Voice of Fenway Park" since the start of the 2003 season.
Beane's SUV crashed into a tree around 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Beane's car swerved off the road after crossing the double solid lines and hit a three. Beane had served as the Red Sox' PA announcer since 2003 after beginning his broadcasting career back in 1972.

The Red Sox have released a statement following the death of long-time Fenway Park Public Address Announcer Carl Beane:
"We are filled with sadness at this tragic news," said Red Sox President/CEO Larry Lucchino. "No one loved his role with the Red Sox more than Carl did his. He adored the opportunity to pay homage each game to Sherm Feller, and to contribute to the culture of Fenway Park, a place he loved passionately. His legion of friends with the Red Sox and the media will miss him enormously, and all of Red Sox Nation will remember his presence, his warmth, and his voice.
"On behalf of John Henry, Tom Werner, our partners, and our entire organization, we extend our deepest sympathies to his wife, Lorraine; his daughter, Nicole; and his granddaughters, Maddie and Gena."
Beane, 59, died Wednesday after suffering a heart attack while driving through Sturbridge, MA.
The team will pay tribute to Beane Thursday before their home game against the Cleveland Indians.

Carl Beane, the voice of Fenway Park, died at the age of 59 on Wednesday in a one-car accident in Sturbridge. Beane was the only passenger in his SUV, which swerved off the road and hit a tree. Beane served as the PA announcer for the Red Sox since 2003.

Beane's family and friends have released a statement regarding his death via Facebook.
The family and friends of Carl Beane appreciate all the heart felt sentiments that we have received. This is a very difficult time for all of us. Please remember Carl as the man who had the best job in the world. Carl also loved to share his good fortune with everyone. He could talk to children as well as senior citizens as if they were all the best of friends. We will miss Carl so very much.
Beane served as the Red Sox' public address announcer from 2003 through his death.
