Matt Moore stole the show on the opening day of the 2011 MLB Postseason, tossing a historically good game to lead the Tampa Bay Rays past the Texas Rangers, 8-0, in Game 1 of the ALDS. In the other game of the day, the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers traded runs in the first inning, but a rain delay ultimately caused the game to be postponed.

ALDS, Game 1: Tampa Bay 9, Texas 0: Matt Moore's Gem Leads Rays Past Rangers

Matt Moore dazzled in just his second career big league start, striking out six and allowing two hits and zero runs in seven innings to lead the Tampa Bay Rays to a playoff-opening 9-0 rout of the Texas Rangers on Friday night in Arlington, Texas. Kelly Shoppach was the Rays offensive start, going 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI on the day. Josh Hamilton went 2-for-4 for the Rangers in the loss. Tampa Bay leads the series, 1-0.

ALDS, Game 1: New York 1, Detroit 1 (Postponed): Yanks, Tigers Trade Runs Before Rain Delay

C.C. Sabathia and Justin Verlander both allowed one run apiece in the first inning and the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers played through just two full innings before the game went into a rain delay and was later postponed until Saturday night. Delmon Young's home run accounted for Detroit's only run in the top of the first while an Alex Rodriguez ground out to third allowed Derek Jeter to score and tie the game. The game will be resumed shortly after 8:30 p.m on Saturday evening.

MLB Playoffs: Schedules Set, With Rangers Looking To Defend AL Title

The 2011 MLB Playoffs begin on Friday, and while the Boston Red Sox won't be participating for the second straight season, there is still plenty of quality baseball to look forward to, including the Texas Rangers attempting to defend their AL title.
