Kevin Millwood Released By Red Sox

Stay connected for news and updates

The Kevin Millwood experiment in Boston has ended before it even began. Millwood has been released by the Boston Red Sox without even making one appearance in a game for the team. He spent his entire time with the club at the AAA level in Pawtucket, and as WEEI.com's Rob Bradford points out, wasn't terribly effective.

The 36-year-old had appeared in 13 games with the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox, going 5-1 with a 4.28 ERA. In 73 2/3 innings, Millwood struck out 66 and walked 25, with the PawSox going 11-2 in his starts. He last pitched Friday night, allowing four runs on eight hits over six innings against Buffalo. (via WEEI)

Millwood has a lifetime record of 159-137 in 414 games. Last season, Millwood was 4-16 with a 5.10 ERA and 132 strikeouts in 190.2 innings pitched throughout 31 starts.
