Red Sox Vs. White Sox: Chicago, Boston Locked In Early 2-2 Tie

Stay connected for news and updates

The Red Sox are locked in an early 2-2 tie thanks to

Andrew Miller showed his usual difficulties in the early-going, walking Paul Konerko with two outs in the bottom of the first, and has been hittable as the game has progressed. Throwing 35-of-55 pitches for strikes, Miller has recorded 5 strikeouts through the first three frames, but allowed a run when Brent Morel doubled home Tyler Flowers in the second, and another thanks to three straight two-out singles in the third.

Jason Varitek has kept the Sox in things, however, taking a 1-0 fastball from Mark Buehrle and sending it into the stands in left field for a two-run homer in the second. That makes seven homers for the captain, despite ceding the bulk of the year's playing time to Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Adrian Gonzalez, meanwhile, has already extended his hitting streak to ten games with a first-inning double, though Kevin Youkilis couldn't bring him in to score.
