David Ortiz and Adrian Gonzalez both advanced to the second round of the 2011 Home Run Derby at Chase Field in Arizona on Monday night. Ortiz hit five in the first round and added four more in a swing-off to break a three-way tie while Gonzalez hit a derby-leading nine long balls in the opening round.
Ortiz and Gonzalez will face Prince Fielder and Robinson Cano in the second round. Fielder hit five in his first showing and added five more in the tie-breaking round while Cano hit eight homers.
