Carl Crawford Placed On 15-Day DL With Left Hamstring Strain, Hopes To Return Between July 1-3

Carl Crawford Hopes To Return By July 1-3 Against Houston Astros

Carl Crawford, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain on Saturday, told reporters that he hopes the return to the lineup between July 1-3, when the Boston Red Sox take on the Houston Astros.

Crawford grew up in Houston and said that he definitely doesn't want to be out of action for those games.

"Definitely wouldn't want to miss that series," Crawford said after tonight's game. "It'll be cutting it close, that's for sure. Hopefully, things will get better soon." (via Boston Globe)

This is the second time in Crawford's 10-year career that he has been placed on the disabled list. Crawford suffered the injury running out an infield single. Immediately after suffering the injury, Crawford talked to trainers and limped off the field into the dugout. An in-game MRI revealed the Grade 1 hamstring strain.

Crawford is batting .243 with six home runs, 31 RBI and eight steals in 67 games for Boston.

Carl Crawford Placed On 15-Day Disabled List, Josh Reddick Recalled

Carl Crawford has been placed on the 15-day disabled list after suffering a Grade 1 left hamstring strain during the first inning of the Red Sox' win over the Brewers on Friday night at Fenway Park.

"The medical people throughout at best that it was going to be 10-14 days," Red Sox manager Terry Francona said this afternoon. "So that was kind of a no-brainer." (via Boston Globe)

Crawford suffered the injury running out an infield single. Immediately after suffering the injury, Crawford talked to trainers and limped off the field into the dugout. An in-game MRI revealed the Grade 1 hamstring strain.

Crawford is batting .243 with six home runs, 31 RBI and eight steals in 67 games for Boston.

Josh Reddick was called up from AAA-Pawtucket to take Crawford's place. In five games with the Red Sox this season, Reddick is batting .385. In Pawtucket, Reddick was hitting .230 with 14 home runs.

Carl Crawford Suffers Left Hamstring Strain, Leaves Game In First

Carl Crawford suffered a left hamstring strain running out an infield single in the first inning of the Boston Red Sox' win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night at Fenway Park.

Immediately after suffering the injury, Crawford talked with the Red Sox' training staff and limped off the field.

"They're just going to see how I feel tomorrow and then go from there," Crawford said. "I iced it a few times and I've got to wear this thing around my thigh tonight, and hopefully that'll make it feel better tomorrow." (via WEEI)

Crawford had an MRI during the game, revealing a Grade 1 hamstring strain, which is the mildest. Terry Francona said that the team will wait until Saturday to see how Crawford responds to initial treatment.

In 67 games with the Red Sox, Crawford is batting .243 with six home runs, 31 RBI and eight steals.
