Georgia Tech 51, Boston College 47: Eagles Drop Sixth Straight In Atlanta

Matt Humphrey's 15 points were not enough as the Boston College Eagles dropped their sixth consecutive game with a 51-47 loss to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Saturday afternoon at Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

Matt Humphrey had another solid outing, scoring a team-high 15 points while collecting four rebounds and dishing out three assists, but the Boston College Eagles were edged by the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 51-47, on Saturday.

Humphrey made an efficient 6-of-10 baskets for Boston College, which shot 34.7 percent as a team. Lonnie Jackson had 10 points, Dennis Clifford chipped in with seven points and Ryan Anderson finished with five points and 11 rebounds.

Glen Rice Jr., making his return from a foot injury, had a team-best 11 points off the bench. Daniel Miller and Kammeon Holsey each finished with 10 points and Brandon Reed amassed nine points for the Yellow Jackets, who made 20-of-49 baskets to shoot 40.8 percent.

Boston College returns home to face the Florida St. Seminoles on Wednesday night.

Boston College Vs. Georgia Tech: Struggling ACC Foes Meet In Atlanta

It doesn't get much worse than this. When the Boston College Eagles and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets meet at 1 p.m. EDT on Saturday afternoon (TV/Radio:ESPNU/WRKO), the two teams will look to turn the tables on very tough seasons.

Boston College, for one, is eight games under .500 and has only won two of its six conference games. Georgia Tech, meanwhile, is six games under .500 and has only won one conference game to date this season. Combined, the Eagles and Yellow Jackets have a .517 winning percentage overall and a .230 winning percentage in conference play.

The Eagles and Yellow Jackets have met 13 total times, with BC holding an 8-5 all-time advantage. Each team has won four games against the other since the Eagles joined the ACC in the 2005-06 season and BC has won three of the last four meetings. However, the Yellow Jackets are 3-1 in their last four against Boston College in games played in Atlanta.

BC is coming off a tightly contested 56-51 loss to the N.C. State Wolfpack on Wednesday. Matt Humphrey had a team-best 15 points, Lonnie Jackson added 10 points, Ran Anderson totaled eight points and eight rebounds and Dennis Clifford had six points and eight boards. Boston College shot 38.8 percent from the field in the losing effort.

Georgia Tech was defeated by the Florida St. Seminoles, 68-54, in its last game. Glen Rice Jr., the Yellow Jackets' leading scorer, missed the game with a foot injury. Brandon Reed scored a team-high 18 and Daniel Miller added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Yellow Jackets, who were held to 42.9 percent shooting.

Boston College returns home to face the Seminoles on Feb. 8 at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
