Matt Humphrey and the Boston College Eagles held their own for nearly all of Wednesday night's game, but as they have often done in recent games, they fell off in the end, losing to the N.C. State Wolfpack, 56-51, at Conte Forum.
Humphrey led the Eagles (7-15) with 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting. Lonnie Jackson totaled 10 points, Ryan Anderson had eight points and both Dennis Clifford and Gabe Moton scored six apiece for Boston College, which shot 38 percent in the loss.
Scott Wood led all scorers with 16 points for the Wolfpack (16-7), who drained 41.3 percent of their baskets. C.J. Leslie finished with 13 points and both Richard Howell and C.J. Williams amassed 10 points for North Carolina State.
Boston College trailed by two points at halftime, 25-23, and was outscored 31-28 in the second half. Humphrey made a three-pointer late in the second half that put the Eagles on top by two, 40-38, but N.C. State squashed the momentum.
