Boston College Vs. Northwestern: Eagles, Wildcats Tied After 1st Quarter

CHESTNUT HILL - Andre Williams broke free for a 69-yard gain on the first play from scrimmage, setting the Boston College Eagles up with a first and goal, but the Eagles offense couldn't punch it in and had to go for a field goal. At the end of one quarter here at Alumni Stadium, BC and the Northwestern Wildcats are tied, 3-3.

Nate Freese connected on a 19-yard field goal with 12:49 left in the first to cap off a five-play, 71-yard drive for the Eagles and give them a 3-0 lead.

Northwestern answered with a field goal of its own near the midway point of the quarter, as Jeff Budzien made a 43-yard field goal with 7:01 left in the quarter, tying the game at 3-3. The field goal capped off an eight-play, 50-yard drive lasting over three minutes.
