The 2011 Boston College Eagles football schedule was released Monday afternoon as part of the Atlantic Coast Conference schedule announcement made by Commissioner John Swofford. ACC teams will play four of the top six teams ranked in the final 2010 AP poll, 10 games against opponents that are projected to be in the preseason Top 25 and 23 games against teams which participated in 2010 postseason bowl games.
The 2011 ACC football schedule begins Thursday night, Sept. 1, when Georgia Tech hosts Western Carolina. The rest of the teams are in action two days later, on Saturday, Sept. 3. Fourteen weeks later, after some 96 games, the ACC season reaches its conclusion with the Seventh Annual Dr Pepper Atlantic Coast Conference Football Championship Game, set to be played on Saturday, Dec. 3 in Charlotte, N.C.
Boston College opens their 2011 schedule on Sept. 3 when the Eagles host the Northwestern Wildcats. In Week 2, BC travels to UCF before opening ACC play at home against Duke on Sept. 17. Other highlights include a Sept. 24 meeting at Chestnut Hill against in-state rival UMass, a nationally televised game on ESPN when Florida State comes to town Thursday night (Nov. 3) and another installment of the Holy War in South Bend, on Nov. 19.
