Doug Martin, the former head coach of the Kent State Golden Flashes, was hired as the new offensive coordinator for the Boston College Eagles football team, according to an announcement from the school late Thursday afternoon.
Martin served as the head coach and offensive coordinator Kent State University from 2004 through 2010 and served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at New Mexico last season.
"I'm really excited to join the football staff at such a prestigious academic institution," said Martin, who will also serve as BC's quarterbacks coach. "I look forward to working with Coach Spaziani and the fine student-athletes at Boston College. It is an honor to have this opportunity."
Martin will take the reigns of a Boston College offense that ranked dead last (12th out of 12) in scoring offense in the Atlantic Coast Conference last season (18.2 PPG) and is a solid addition to the program according to third-year head coach Frank Spaziani.
"Doug Martin is an excellent addition to our staff," said Spaziani. "He brings a wealth of experience, not only as an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach but as a head coach as well. Doug's record of success, particularly in mentoring young quarterbacks, is impressive."
