Celtics Free Agency 2012: Boston Showing Interest In Courtney Lee

The Boston Celtics may have let Ray Allen walk out the door, but they're not content with their guards going forward.

After signing Jason Terry to basically replace Allen leaving, the Celtics are looking to add another piece to their backcourt with Courtney Lee.

Lee played with the Houston Rockets during the past two seasons after breaking into the NBA with the Orlando Magic and spending a year on the then New Jersey Nets.

In 58 games last season and 26 starts, Lee was consistently lethal from downtown. The 26-year-old shot 40 percent on his 3-point attempts while averaging just over 11 points per game.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN.com, the Minnesota Timberwolves, Indiana Pacers and Dallas Mavericks are also interested in bringing in the free agent shooting guard among others.

If Lee came to Boston, he would likely come off the bench and provide some nice depth with the ability to fill in for a starter on any given night.

However, the Celtics would need to acquire Lee through a sign-and-trade deal instead of a simple signing due to their lack of cap space.
