Ray Allen Free Agency Rumors 2012: Minnesota Timberwolves Emerge As 'Dark-Horse,' According To Report

The Minnesota Timberwolves have emerged as another suitor for free agent shooting guard Ray Allen, according to Ric Bucher of ESPN, but they might not be a huge threat.

Bucher reported on Friday that the Timberwolves are a "dark-horse team" to land Allen. "Dark, though, as in jet black," Bucher tweeted.

There's a chance that the Timberwolves are already capped out, as they agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent Brandon Roy and restricted free agent Nicolas Batum on Thursday. If the Portland Trail Blazers decide not to match the offer sheet Minnesota extended to Batum, the Timberolves will already be over the cap and will need to make a move to cut salary, not add it.

The Timberwolves might be able to add Allen in a sign-and-trade deal. The Celtics and Heat had previously been thought to be the final two suitors for Allen.
