Boston Celtics Free Agency Rumors 2012: Chris Wilcox Cleared For Full-Court Contact After Heart Surgery

Free agent forward Chris Wilcox has been cleared for full-court contact after undergoing season-ending heart surgery, his agent told NBA.com's David Aldridge on Monday. It's the first step toward Wilcox returning to an NBA court in 2012.

The Boston Celtics will consider re-signing Wilcox, Danny Ainge said during a press conference to introduce the team's rookies on Monday. The 6-foot-10 big man averaged 5.4 points on 59 percent shooting to go along with 4.4 rebounds for the Celtics last season before doctors found an enlarged aorta which required surgery at the end of March. That ended his season.

After re-signing Kevin Garnett and drafting Jared Sullinger and Fab Melo, the Celtics are considerably less desperate to sign big men than they were at the beginning of the NBA offseason. They also have to make a decision on Greg Stiemsma, a restricted free agent.
