Paul Pierce Injury: Knee 'Will Be Fine' According To Doc Rivers

Paul Pierce reportedly played throughout the Boston Celtics' run to the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals with a sprained MCL in his left knee and has been taking it easy this offseason as a result. Head coach Doc Rivers seemed unfazed when asked about the injury during Thursday's summer league game.

"His knee will be fine," Rivers said. "But his injury was he had to rest it. He should not have been playing to get healthy. The only way you can get healthy with his knee was rest. So he'll be fine."

Pierce struggled against the Miami Heat, shooting just 34.4 percent from the floor. He still managed to average 18.9 rebounds, 6.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists over the course of the playoffs, however. The veteran forward will turn 35 in October as he enters his 15th season in the NBA.
