NBA Free Agency 2012: Greg Stiemsma Expected To Sign With Timberwolves, According To Report

Stay connected for news and updates

The Minnesota Timberwolves are expected to sign Boston Celtics free agent center Greg Stiemsma, according to a report (via WEEI).

Stiemsma met with the Timberwolves a couple of weeks ago with his agent. Stiemsma is a restricted free agent and while they have the right to match any offer for the center, Minnesota's offer might be out of range for the C's. Boston's qualifying offer was reported to be a little more than $1 million while Minnesota's offer will reportedly be $3 million for one season.

As a rookie last season, Stiemsma played 55 games (3 starts) for the Celtics and averaged 2.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game in 13.9 minutes per game. He also played in 19 postseason contests last season and had 1.5 points and 2.2 rebounds per game in 7.5 minutes.
