NBA Draft 2012 Results: Complete First Round Recap From Newark

NEWARK - The night is half over inside the Prudential Center, where the 2012 NBA Draft is taking place. Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist stole the spotlight at the top of the draft, as the former University of Kentucky teammates were drafted No. 1 and No. 2 by the New Orleans Hornets and Charlotte Bobcats, respectively, in Thursday night's draft.

On the local scene, Andre Drummond and Jeremy Lamb of the Connecticut Huskies went early in the draft, with Drummond going to the Detroit Pistons at N. 9 and Lamb being taken by the Houston Rockets at No. 12. Austin Rivers, the son of Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers, was drafted No. 10 overall by the New Orleans Hornets.

Boston, meanwhile, had back-to-back picks late in the first round and selected Jared Sullinger of Ohio State and Fab Melo of Syracuse with the No. 21 and No. 22 overall picks. They still have one more pick on the night, No. 51 overall (No. 21 in the second round).
