Worcester Native Rob Hennigan Hired As New Orlando Magic General Manager

Stay connected for news and updates

Rob Hennigan, a Worcester native and graduate of Emerson College (heard through Bill Doyle on Twitter), has been hired as the new general manager of the Orlando Magic, replacing outgoing GM Otis Smith. Hennigan is 30 years old and is now the youngest GM in the NBA, according to Doyle.

''Rob is an astute strategist and evaluator of talent who comes to the Magic family from two championship-level organizations,'' Orlando Magic Chief Executive Officer Alex Martins said. ''We feel he is an outstanding fit and the right choice to lead our basketball operations team in achieving our championship goals.'' (via FOX Sports)

Hennigan was with the Oklahoma City Thunder for four years and served as an assistant general manager and player personnel aid and has also spent time with the San Antonio Spurs. While many in these parts may not have heard of Hennigan, we certainly wish him the best in his new endeavor (except when the Magic are playing the Celtics).
