Boston Celtics' Trainer Ed Lacerte Named NBA's Trainer Of The Year

Boston Celtics longtime trainer, Ed Lacerte, has been named the Joe O'Toole Athletic Trainer Of The Year, the Celtics announced in a press release on Wednesday afternoon. Lacerte has served as the Celtics' Head Athletic Trainer for 25 years and served as the trainer on the 1992 U.S. Olympic Men's Basketball Team, known as the "Dream Team."

"I've known Eddie for 25 years. He is the hardest working athletic trainer and most experienced in the league," Celtics GM and President Of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge said via statement. "We are lucky to have him caring for our players."

This is Lacerte's second Trainer Of The Year selection, as he also won the award back in the 1992-1993 season. Lacerte is highly regarded by Celtics head coach Doc Rivers, as well as many others within the organization. Considering the amount of injury woes the Celtics were dealt this season, Lacerte's award is certainly well-deserved.
