Orlando Magic Coaching Search: Doc Rivers A Long Shot, But Magic Interested

Stay connected for news and updates

Doc Rivers signed a five-year deal with the Boston Celtics prior to this season. But that reportedly isn't stopping the Orlando Magic from dreaming big.

According to an ESPN report, the Magic are quite interested in finding a way to convince Rivers to leave his perch on the Celtics bench in favor of a position in Orlando. The Magic would obviously be interested in signing Rivers as a coach, but ESPN reports they might also be open to adding him in a management-only role.

Of course, it's far-fetched and unlikely. Rivers resides in Orlando during the offseason, but he is signed for four more seasons in Boston after this one concludes. He also by all accounts loves his working relationship with Danny Ainge in Boston, which is a big reason he signed a long-term deal in Beantown.
