Ryan Hollins, a free agent center who cleared waivers Thursday, is reportedly close to signing with the Boston Celtics. Hollins, who is 27, has averaged 4.2 points and 2.3 rebounds in 299 career games with five different teams.
Ryan Hollins is reportedly very close to reaching a contract agreement with the Boston Celtics, who have been looking to fill the void left by Jermaine O'Neal (season-ending wrist surgery) and Chris Wilcox (season-ending heart ailment) in the post. Hollins, a free agent center, cleared waivers after being let go by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
A. Sherrod Blakely of Comcast SportsNet New England first reported the potential Hollins signing, and Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe reports that Hollins will be a member of the Celtics by this evening.
Hollins has been a journeyman in his five years in the league, playing for the Charlotte Bocats, Dallas Mavericks, Minnesota Timberwolves and most recently the Cavs. Hollins, 27, has averaged 4.2 points and 2.3 rebounds in 299 career games. This season, Hollins is averaging 3.7 points and 2.3 boards in 24 games (seven starts) with Cleveland.
