Celtics, Bruins Banners At TD Garden Removed For 2012 NCAA Tournament

Stay connected for news and updates

TD Garden is the home of champions, the Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins being the two main inhabitants. Between the two teams, they have produced 23 championships resulting in 23 glorious banners hanging from the rafters.

But this week, they're all going away.

With the Sweet 16 round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament coming to town this week, TD Garden must remove the banners to comply with the NCAA's uniformity rule, according to a report from CBS Boston. The banners will return after the tournament moves on, though, and in the meantime they'll be put on display at Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Dorchester, MA. All but two.

The most recent banners, the Celtics' championship banner from 2008 and the Bruins' title banner from 2011, will be moved to a location decided by the fans. You can influence where the banners will be displayed by posting a message on the TD Garden Facebook Page or directing a Tweet to TD Garden's Twitter account.
