Jermaine O'Neal Injury: Celtics Center To Have Season-Ending Wrist Surgery

Celtics center Jermaine O'Neal will undergo season-ending wrist surgery.

Boston Celtics center Jermaine O'Neal will undergo season-ending surgery on his left wrist (via Boston Herald).

O'Neal last played against the Dallas Mavericks on Feb. 20. O'Neal had three rebounds and four blocks in 19 minutes. The Boston center tried to work through the injury but was not able to.

O'Neal had been rumored in trade talks before the NBA Trade Deadline passed on March 15. Boston is still in the market for a big man to fill in during the drive for a playoff spot.

In 25 games this season for the Celtics, O'Neal averaged 5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.7 blocks in 22.8 minutes per game. During his 15-year career, O'Neal averaged 13.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.9 blocks in 27.9 minutes per game.
