NBA All-Star Weekend 2012: Ray Allen Won't Participate In Three-Point Contest

Ray Allen is out. Before the Boston Celtics' game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night at TD Garden, Allen told the media that if he was snubbed for the 2012 NBA All-Star Game in Orlando, FL, he wouldn't participate in the three-point contest. Allen and teammate Paul Pierce participated in the contest last season, although neither won.

"If I'm not going to play in the game, then it's a great opportunity to take the whole week and just relax," Allen said. "It's better on my body and my mind." (via WEEI)

Alas, Allen wasn't selected to his 11th All-Star game.

"I would pretty much think that most people wouldn't have thought I'd still be in consideration, still playing good basketball on a team that has a chance to compete for a championship," Allen said. "I know that my impact is being felt and what I'm doing, I've been doing the right things and continue to. Sometimes that's good enough." (via WEEI)
