NBA Draft 2011: Kyrie Irving Drafted No. 1 Overall By Cleveland Cavaliers

Kyrie Irving, a point guard from Duke, was drafted No. 1 overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night in the 2011 NBA Draft at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Irving, who was the consensus top pick entering the draft, played in only 11 games with the Duke Blue Devils last season, averaging 17.5 points, 4.3 assists and 1.5 steals in his only season in Durham, N.C. In addition, he shot 52.9 percent from the field, 46.2 percent from three-point range and 90.1 percent from the free throw line.

Despite playing 11 games, Irving still wowed when he was on the court. Irving scored a career-high 31 points on 13-of-16 shooting against Michigan State on December 1, 2010. Irving recorded nine assists twice in his career, against Princeton in the season opener and against Colegate on November 19, 2010.
