Rajon Rondo underwent an MRI and CAT scan at New England Baptist Hospital on Sunday, and the results came back negative, fortunate news for the Boston Celtics and their fans.
Rondo dislocated his elbow in the third quarter of Saturday's Game 3 after he got tangled with the Miami Heat's Dywane Wade and fell awkwardly, with his left arm collapsing under his body's weight. He left the game and headed to the locker room but quickly returned to help lead the Celtics to the win.
With news that the tests were negative, focus now shifts to Game 4, and whether Rondo will be able to play. For now, Doc Rivers remains optimistic.
"Right now, we're going to go with, ‘They're all playing,"' the AP notes, but both Rondo and Delonte West(notes), who suffered a bruised left shoulder Saturday, will be game-time decisions for Rivers Monday.
"I'm optimistic about both, that they're going to play. I don't know why I am, but I am," Rivers said, the AP reports. "I just don't know how well either one can play."

Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo dislocated his left elbow midway through the third quarter of Boston's 97-81 win over the Miami Heat in Game 3 on Saturday night at TD Garden.
Rondo suffered the injury after falling to the ground while tangling with Heat guard Dwayne Wade. Rondo tried to use his left arm to brace his fall, but ultimately dislocated the elbow and had to leave the game.
Celtics head coach Doc Rivers spoke to reporters about Rondo's injury following his team's victory.
"I still haven't seen it, I heard that I don't want to see it and don't plan on seeing it," said Rivers of the Rondo injury. "Probably it helped me, honestly, that I didn't see it, because if I had from what I hear from our guys it would have been tough to put him back in the game." (via WEEI)
Miraculously, Rondo returned the game in the fourth quarter, playing one of the game's most difficult positions with just one arm. Despite his return, Rivers still remains unsure about Rondo's status for Game 4 on Monday.
"It's a major concern," said Rivers. "You can play a lot on adrenaline, we've seen people do it all the time, but moving forward we'll have to see but it'll be interesting." (via WEEI)
Rondo finished the game with six points and 11 assists in 35 minutes, and is averaging 11.3 points and 10 assists in three games against Miami in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
