Marquis Daniels, Boston Celtics Reach One-Year Contract Agreement

Marquis Daniels has signed a one-year contract to return to the Boston Celtics, as first reported by The Boston Globe and later confirmed by to A. Sherrod Blakely of Comcast SportsNet New England. Daniels played with the Celtics for the past two season, but was hampered by injuries in both campaigns.

Daniels played in 49 games for the Celtics last season before suffering a spinal cord injury during a February 6 collision with GIlbert Arenas. Daniels lay motionless on the court and was eventually taken off on a stretcher, but the frightening injury ended his season prematurely. Daniels finished the year averaged 5.5 points and 2.3 rebounds.

After the injury, Daniels was traded away to the Sacramento Kings for a 2017 second-round draft pick, but did not play a game for the Kings. Daniels also played in Boston two seasons ago, averaging 5.6 points and 1.9 rebounds in 51 games. Daniels' best season came in the 2008-09 campaign when he averaged 13.6 points and 4.6 rebounds in 54 games.
