Boston Celtics Free Agency 2011: Glen Davis Not Expected To Return

Glen Davis' days with the Boston Celtics may be over. Davis, who was drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 2007 NBA Draft and was traded to the C's, is not expected to return to the team according to CBS Sports.

Glen Davis is not expected to return to the Celtics, but CSN New England reports that the Detroit Pistons have interest in him and may offer him the full MLE. He's young enough it doesn't disrupt their core, and a Knight-Hamilton-Jerebko/Daye-Davis-Monroe is a pretty solid young (except for Hamilton) core. Not a bad idea. (via Eye On Basketball)

Davis was reportedly reached out to by Celtics general manager Danny Ainge, as well as some of his teammates, about a possible return. The gesture was looked upon favorably by Davis' agent, John Hamilton.

"It's very important," John Hamilton, Davis' agent, told CSNNE.com. "It shows Danny and the Celtics appreciate the contributions he has made to the club, and are open to seeing if they can continue to relationship that started four years ago."

Davis has averaged 7.6 points and 4.1 rebounds though 277 career games. Last season, Davis averaged a career-high 11.7 points and 5.4 rebounds in 78 games for the Celtics.
