Mickael Pietrus' debut with the Boston Celtics has been pushed back again, with Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe reporting on Friday that Celtics' GM Danny Ainge said that Pietrus will miss at least two more weeks and may join the team in mid January.
Pietrus signed with the Celtics on Christmas Eve after clearing waivers. Prior to playing with the Celtics, Pietrus had played with the Golden State Warriors, Orlando Magic and Phoenix Suns. Last Thursday, Pietrus was waived by the Suns.
In eight seasons, Pietrus has averaged 8.5 points and 3.1 rebounds while shooting 43.1 percent. Last season, Pietrus was traded from the Magic to the Suns and averaged 7.2 points and 2.2 boards. Pietrus' best season came in the 2006-07 campaign with the Warriors, when he averaged a career-high 11.1 points and 4.5 rebounds in 72 games.

Mickael Pietrus is still at least two games away from playing with the Boston Celtics, according to team President Danny Ainge. That means the point guard will miss the rest of the team's road trip, including Tuesday's big game against the Miami Heat.
Despite being signed this past Saturday, Pietrus has yet to undergo a physical, and as Jeff Clark of Celticsblog points out, the Jeff Green situation has made it all too clear how important that step can be in finalizing a contract. Of particular focus is Pietrus' knee, which he had surgery on in July.
Once Pietrus has checked out physically, he'll need time to get in rhythm with the team during practice. Still, with Paul Pierce remaining day-to-day, the Celtics will be anxious to get their newest acquisition up to game speed. Sasha Pavlovic did not exactly acquit himself against the Knicks, and Marquis Daniels can only do so much.

Last season, Pietrus averaged 7.4 points and 2.0 rebounds after being traded from the Orlando Magic to the Suns earlier in the season. Pietrus, who averages 8.5 points and 3.1 rebounds in his career, played in Orlando from 2008 through 2011 and began his career with the Golden State Warriors in the 2003-04 season. His best season came in 2006-07, when Pietrus averaged 11.1 points and 4.5 rebounds in 72 games.
