Boston Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli confirmed a report that goalie Tim Thomas is considering a year off from hockey.
Boston Bruins goalie Tim Thomas is seriously considering whether to take a year away from the NHL, general manager Peter Chiarelli confirmed on Friday during a conference call with reporters.
Chiarelli on Thomas: "Tim came to me toward the beginning of May through his agent, and said he is seriously considering taking year off."

Chiarelli said he believes Thomas is sick of the side effects that come with being one of the world's best goaltenders, rather than tired of the game itself.
If Thomas, the 2011 Vezina Trophy winner, does decide not to play in 2012-13, Chiarelli said the Bruins would still be pleased with their goalies.
PC: "I'd be more than satisfied with Tuukka [Rask] and Khudobin as our goaltenders..."^BISH
