Bruins Vs. Penguins Score Update: After Slow Start, Pens Take 2-1 Lead After First

In a game that started with just three total shots on net in the first seven minutes of play, the Penguins stepped it up and scored twice to take an early 2-0 lead.

With just under eight minutes into the period, Sidney Crosby put home a rebound left by Bruins netminder Marty Turco out in front of the net after both Milan Lucic and James Neal went to the penalty box for matching roughing penalties. Paul Martin followed his lead, and, seven minutes later trickled one through Turco and just barely made it past the goal line.

But the Bruins found some life as well, and Benoit Pouliot roofed his 15th goal of the season, backhanding it over the glove of Penguins goaltender Brent Johnson to cut the lead in half with just two minutes left to go in the first period. That matched Pouliot's career high for goals in a season.

The Bruins didn't make it easy on themselves, and David Krejci started the game off rough, picking up a Delay of Game penalty just 28 seconds into the game, putting his team on the shorthand early in the game. However, Pittsburgh was unable to even get a shot on net in that time.

Turco has stopped eight shots of the ten he faced, while Johnson has blocked 12.
