Bruins Vs. Capitals Final: Chara's Late Tally Lifts B's To 4-3 Victory In D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC-- On Monday evening, the Boston Bruins stole home-ice advantage right back from the Washington Capitals by way of a 4-3 victory on Verizon Center ice.

Entering the third period deadlocked in a 2-2 tie, the B's would waste no time in the third, going ahead 3-2 just over a minute into the frame. It would be trade deadline acquisition Brian Rolston who would put the B's ahead after corralling a rebound in the slot and shoveling it into the Caps' net. Unfortunately for Boston, the Capitals would once again even the score late in regulation when Brooks Laich took advantage of a lapse in coverage by Boston captain Zdeno Chara and sprint in to beat Tim Thomas on a breakaway.

With just over a minute to play, the B's fearsome 6'9" Slovakian leader would atone for his rare mistake, blasting a rocket slap-shot past Braden Holtby to lift the Bruins to a crucial game three victory.
