Bruins Vs. Capitals Score Update: Semin, Capitals Take 1-0 Lead Into First Intermission

WASHINGTON, DC-- In a pivotal game three showdown between the Washington Capitals and the visiting Boston Bruins, each team was looking to begin things strong after partaking in back-to-back contests that featured a grand total of zero goals in the opening frame.

After failing to produce on their first power-play opportunity -- created by a tripping call against Alexander Semin -- , the B's would find themselves on the penalty-kill with less than five minutes to play in period one. Unfortunately for Boston, it would be Semin that would find the twine at exactly the sixteen minute mark to give the Capitals a 1-0 advantage. The play was created by a defensive zone turnover by Boston, followed by defenseman Johnny Boychuk being caught severely out of position at the blueline, allowing the Washington sniper to wrist one through a two-player screen and passed Tim Thomas.

The B's lackluster power-play now finds itself with an 0-8 mark on the series after two missed opportunities in the opening twenty minutes.
