Bruins vs. Capitals Game Two Second Period Live Blog

Things have started to get chippy at TD Garden as we've played almost 90 minutes of regulation hockey in this series without a goal, and frustration started to rear its ugly head as Alex Ovechkin went after Dennis Seidenberg before puck drop in the Bruins end.

Boston has had its two best chances of the series this period, first with Brad Marchand whiffing on a puck in the crease in front of an empty net and minutes later, with Patrice Bergeron getting the puck open in the slot and pushing the puck off the side of the net.

With 11:50 left in the second, there's still no score.

4:30 - Gregory Campbell nearly broke the scoring barrier, getting alone in front of the net and re-directing a slapshot from the point..right into Braden Holtby's chest. TV Timeout.

4:36 - Boston kills a two-minute minor to Brad Marchand for a high-sticking that never really happened to John Carlson.

4:42 - A fluke shot trickles under Tim Thomas' pad to give Washington their first goal and first lead of the season. Thomas appeared to have the puck stopped before a Bruin player collided with him, pushing the puck into the net. Troy Brouwer was credited with the goal. Washington leads, 1-0.
