Looking to clinch a Playoff berth, the Boston Bruins are tied the New York Islanders, 1-1, after one period of play. Both teams have attempted seven shots on goal, with each team connecting once.
Neither team has committed a penalty thus far, which is especially rare for the Bruins, who are among the top teams in the NHL in racking up penalty minutes. For the most part, the teams have played an even game, across the board. Both teams have seven hits and five and six giveaways, respectively. The only major discrepancy is the faceoff battle, where the Bruins have won 13 of 17.
The scoring came very late in the period for both teams. David Krejci of the Bruins scored with about a minute 50 left in the period, only to be answered by Islanders right wing, Kyle Okposo, 30 seconds later.
