Bruins Sign Shawn Thornton To Contract Extension

The Boston Bruins have re-signed Shawn Thornton to a two year deal.

According to Hockey Insider, Bob McKenzie, the Boston Bruins and Shawn Thornton have agreed on a contract extension.

The 34 year old left wing has scored four goals and dished out eight assists this season, good for 12 points. He's attempted 97 shots on goal, converting at a rate of .041. His +/- on the season is -6 and has accumulated a career high 143 penalty minutes.

Thornton was a seventh round pick in the 1997 draft, selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs. He began his career with the Chicago Blackhawks, who he played with from 2002 to 2006. He played the 06-07 season with Anaheim and has been with the Bruins ever since.
